Still secure with Nala on guard

After a bad weekend with the medicines making Margot hyper without making her feel any better she has had a couple of stable days. My brother and sister-in-law have also made a quick visit from Spain which was a very nice interlude.

Now Margot has just gone off to the hospital for the afternoon to have a blood transfusion to help correct her anemia. Nala, of course, is still doing a grand job of sleeping on the threshold so that no ambulance people can go in or out uninterrupted.

  1. I like stable days!! When Don had his aneurysm, I had to lock Rambo in the garage. He was having none of those people touching his person! No way, no how. And no, you can't take him away from me! Ever since, he really flips when Don leaves - even if it's only for a few hours. Lots of walking around in living/dining kitchen (it's open on two sides into the living room). At night, if Don happens to stay away (seldom - for hospital stay last January, and for bike week last March), he goes outside and looks through the fence, then barks at the fence - at midnight. LOL The neighbors say they feel "safe" when he does that, cuz they know that no one is going to try even going near the houses with that big ol' bark.

  2. Certainly hope the transfusion makes her feel better and continue to be stable...I googled and this is quite common with cancer patients and can be a side effect of the chemo drugs.

Yeah Chows! They're being quite the good little nurse aides, it seems.

  4. I do hope Margot is more stable now. I'm not around this weekend, but please remember normally I'm just down the road, so don't hesitate........

  5. Hopefully the transfusion will give her a little more energy. Carina, it is very common. Chemo goes after any cells that reproduce rapidly (as cancer cells do). But blood cells, stomach cells, hair, etc. That's why you have nausea, hair loss, anemia, low platelets, etc.
Anemia certainly makes you feel tired, so maybe she's feeling a little better today (I hope!!).
Nick and Margot, thank you SO much for the wonderful NSSS packages. The dogs are thrilled! I'll get a pic of Kazoo wearing his snazzy new coat. Pete and Theia have been stealing the toys from each other all morning, and the treats have been a HUGE hit! Thanks again. I know you have a lot on your plate, and it was very nice of you to take the time to send such great stuff to Isis, Pete, Kazoo and Theia!!
